Healthcare Direct is a leading provider of therapy services in Ireland, and we're currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in Cahercalla Community Care on a part time basis.
Healthcare Direct delivers multidisciplinary therapy services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and dietetics across nursing homes and private hospitals.
As a key partner in integrated post-acute rehabilitation, Healthcare direct is a key enabler of integrated post-acute rehabilitation, offering bespoke therapy interventions to a broad range of patients.
Services such as assessment, case management, rehabilitation, and reablement are provided by Healthcare Direct therapists under the governance of Mowlam Healthcare, in collaboration with the HSE and other care partners.
Background to post Healthcare Direct is strategically developing integrated, age friendly rehabilitation capacity in post-acute rehabilitation and home care, building on its expertise and track record as Irelands biggest private provider of long-term residential care.
This vision is in keeping with the move towards an Age-Friendly Health System and the HSE strategy to address give priority to urgent and emergency care for older adults.
This service will reflect the standards and principles underpinning rehabilitation as set out by the World Health Organization (WHO 2023), HSE national clinical programmes and contemporary evidence on rehabilitation (EU 2019).
This will integrate with existing Enhanced Community Care developments (Community Health Networks, Community Specialist Teams, Older People and Chronic Disease) and age friendly pathways under development in acute hospitals.
It is proposed that this mixed economy approach will reflect the positive lessons from the EU Observatory (2024) which highlights the benefits to the population when public and private capacity is combined.
Key functions The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities in Care of the Elderly settings: Assess the case history of each client Devise and carry out appropriate assessments with each client Source medical equipment solutions as appropriate and document all recommendations Work with other health professionals such as nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists, GP's etc Liaise and communicate with clients families and other relevant parties Maintaining up to-date notes to include client symptoms, treatments and progress The person should possess the following skills: Excellent interpersonal skills Good practical skills Ability to work in a team An inquiring and creative mind Problem-solving Prerequisites: Degree in Speech & Language Therapy Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist in the public or private healthcare sectors Membership of the IASLT and CORU Registration A broad range of under-graduate clinical experience with Elderly care being desirable but not essential Experience providing Speech and Language Therapy to the elderly population would be an advantage Professional Indemnity Insurance Need access to own transport and a Smart phone Strong written and verbal skills Healthcare Direct is committed to supporting its staff and has actively invested in their professional development through a range of further education and training opportunities.
