This role is an exciting opportunity to work within either adult or paediatric services, depending on experience and interest, delivering high-quality psychosocial support to patients and families during their hospital journey. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in assisted decision-making processes, support patients with mental health needs, and advocate for the rights, dignity, and well-being of those under your care. Key Responsibilities Provide specialist social work services to patients and families in either adult or paediatric units. Support complex discharge planning, care coordination, and crisis intervention. Actively engage in and guide Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 processes. Assess and manage mental health and psychosocial issues, referring to specialist services where required. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including medical, nursing, allied health, and community agencies. Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to service development and audits. Essential Criteria A recognised qualification in Social Work and CORU registration. Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a health or social care setting. Proven experience working within an acute hospital or medical setting. Demonstrable knowledge and practical application of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015. Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. Excellent communication, assessment, and advocacy skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team. Desirable Postgraduate training or CPD in mental health, capacity assessment, or child protection. Familiarity with Tusla, CAMHS, or adult safeguarding frameworks.
