Muhlenberg Township, Berks County, PA is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Parks Department Truck Driver/Laborer position.
Truck Driver/Laborers perform a wide variety of maintenance services, repairs, and minor construction functions to parks, playgrounds, open spaces, sports turf, infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment in Muhlenberg Township.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Participate in the repair, maintenance, and reconstruction of township infrastructure and equipment including; parks, playgrounds, signs, buildings, grounds, and equipment
* Operate manual and power tools including; jackhammers and chain saws, mowers, and string trimmers
* Load and haul debris, snow, and materials
* Trim and remove weeds, bushes, and trees
* Perform winter maintenance duties including; removal of snow and ice, application of salt and antiskid.
* Organize and clean work areas
Requirements:
* Knowledge of tools used in construction and maintenance
* Knowledge of light, medium, and heavy operating procedures
* Thorough knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair practices and procedures for buildings and grounds, parks, and playgrounds.
* Experience operating manual and power tools
* Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 50lbs and occasionally lift over 50lbs
* Ability to perform physical labor, manual tasks, or operate equipment for extended periods of time
* Ability to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions
* Ability to work overtime as needed
* Preferably has a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B or able to obtain a CDL within 6 months from accepting employment is required
* Heavy equipment operator experience is a plus
This is a union position.
Starting Rate: $21.15 increasing to $26.44 per hour after probationary period.
