About us
One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What you\'ll do
Core tasks for this role include:

Lead Product & Customer Acceptance: Lead PAT/CAT for Viasat IFC systems, ensuring software and hardware integrate seamlessly for global airline partners.
Drive the AppleSeed for IT Program: Proactively test new iOS and macOS Beta releases 6–12 weeks prior to public launch to identify and mitigate "Day Zero" connectivity issues.
Ensure Simulation Fidelity: Audit and update ARINC 429 and FMC simulator profiles to match modern aircraft burst rates, preventing "on-wing" failures.
Modernize through Automation: Transition manual test protocols into a modern automation framework, utilizing Claude Code to accelerate script generation.
Enforce Zero-Drift Policy: Conduct environment audits to ensure lab configurations match the production "Golden Build," preventing service outages.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Software Release Lead, Delivery PMO, and Product teams to align testing timelines with global fleet deployment.

The day-to-day

Execute & Diagnose: Review overnight automated test results and use Claude Code to quickly diagnose failures or generate new test stubs for the day\'s feature releases.
Hands-on Validation: Conduct hands-on testing of cutting-edge software (such as the 9.9.x release stream) on rack-mounted IFC hardware that mimics the aircraft environment.
Beta Monitoring: Test every new Apple Beta release within one week of launch to catch SSID drops and "Private Address" issues before public deployment.
Interface Integrity: Audit lab simulator configurations against actual Boeing/Airbus Interface Control Documents (ICD) to ensure timing parity with the FMC.
Continuous Deployment Support: Integrate new automated scripts into the CI/CD pipeline to support the move toward Modular Software Load Kits (MSLK).
Stakeholder Sync: Participate in weekly status meetings to provide data-driven readiness reports and identify "blocker" bugs for dev domains.

What you\'ll need

Professional Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in Test Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Systems Integration.
Technical Foundation: Demonstrated knowledge of the SDLC, network diagnostic tools (Wireshark, Linux CLI), and change control processes.
Aviation/Network Protocols: Hands-on experience with ARINC 429, Ethernet switching, or similar avionics data protocols.
Automation Proficiency: Experience creating and maintaining scripts within an automation framework (e.g., Robot Framework, PyTest, or Selenium).
AI Tooling: Familiarity with AI-augmented coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to optimize testing velocity.
Documentation: Hands-on experience using Atlassian JIRA and Confluence to track defects and publish metrics.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

What will help you on the job

Beta Program Management: Previous experience with developer beta programs (like AppleSeed for IT).
Cloud & Virtualization: Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD processes.
Industry Knowledge: Experience with SATCOM or In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC).
