The Commercial Account Director is responsible for owning and developing the commercial relationship with a portfolio of key client accounts, acting as the primary point of contact for all commercial matters. The role focuses on building strong, long-term client partnerships through a deep understanding of client objectives, ensuring high levels of satisfaction while safeguarding the organisation’s commercial and contractual interests.A core purpose of the role is to drive sustainable account growth and profitability. This includes identifying opportunities for contract renewals, upselling and cross-selling additional services, and contributing to revenue forecasting and planning. The Commercial Account Manager monitors financial performance against targets, prepares accurate commercial forecasts, and supports wider business development efforts to maximise account value over time.The role also plays a critical governance function by overseeing commercial contracts, leading or supporting negotiations, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and internal policies. Through robust reporting, commercial analysis, and collaboration with finance and operational teams, the Commercial Account Manager mitigates risk, improves commercial processes, and contributes to continuous improvement across the organisation.Key Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesClient Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders.Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned client accounts.Evaluate client satisfaction by understanding business needs, objectives, and challenges.Prepare and coordinate Monthly / Quarterly Business Reviews.Commercial Oversight & Account GrowthIdentify opportunities for account growth, contract renewals, and cross-selling of additional services.Monitor financial performance and profitability of accounts against agreed targets.Prepare commercial forecasts and contribute to revenue planning.Commercial ContractsReview, interpret, and summarise key terms of commercial contracts.Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal policies.Maintain accurate records of contracts, amendments, and key dates.Negotiation & Account ManagementLead and/or support negotiations of rate adjustments, renewals, and contract extensions.Prepare commercial proposals and pricing models in collaboration with commercial and finance teams.Balance client expectations with organisational objectives during negotiations.Reporting & AnalysisProvide regular reporting to management on account health, commercial risks, and opportunities.Contribute to improving internal commercial processes, templates, and review procedures.Key Experience / Skills / Education3+ years’ experience in Account Management.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or related discipline (preferred).Proven experience as a Commercial Account Manager, Key Account Manager, or similar role.Demonstrated experience managing complex client relationships and commercial contracts.Track record of supporting or leading commercial negotiations, renewals, and pricing discussions.Experience in financial performance monitoring, forecasting, and revenue planning.Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with finance, legal, sales, and operational teams.Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret contracts and financial data.Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.Strong negotiation and influencing abilities.Analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail and risk awareness.Strong communication and presentation skills, including delivery of business reviews.Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple accounts and deadlines.Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to refine processes and templates.Professional qualifications in commercial or contract management (desirable but not essential).
