Amazon Web Services (AWS) continues to expand its global presence and customer facing services and we are looking for a highly motivated export controls specialist. As part of the AWS Global Export Compliance team, this role gets to drive enterprise-wide export compliance excellence by building policies, processes and solutions for automated compliance, enabling business growth across AWS's most complex and strategic programs including AI, Quantum, and other emerging technologies.
The successful candidate will have experience implementing export controls in a multinational company, a passion for new challenges, be creative, self-directed, thrive in a fast paced environment, and a great team player. Candidates should drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to solve problems and develop requirements for new compliance solutions.
Key job responsibilities
* Manage export compliance requirements within Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and ensure requirements are integrated within business processes.
* Work closely with the business to understand scope of controlled export activities, identify risks, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
* Implement and maintain internal compliance programs (ICPs) to satisfy regulatory requirements, including compliance with export authorization obligations, e.g. regulatory reporting.
* Obtain required authorizations to enable both tangible and intangible exports within the assigned geography.
* Manage regulator inquiries and audits for the assigned geography.
* Work closely with Legal to monitor and analyze dual use and defense regulatory changes, conduct impact assessments, and update the compliance program and related processes to address changes
* Design and deliver advanced training programs for compliance teams and business stakeholders
* Create metrics for management reporting
* Create management business reports for stakeholder teams and leadership on state of the business and compliance initiatives

The candidate must possess strong analytical skills and be comfortable working autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment. The position requires an individual with strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and able to prioritize effectively.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Engineering, or related field
* 5+ years of progressive experience in export controls, trade compliance, or international regulatory affairs
* Working knowledge of export control regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions (technology, procedures, processes, etc.) in a regulated environment
* Experience in handling internal & external audits
* Advanced degree in International Trade, Law, or related field
* 7+ years of export control experience in technology or manufacturing industry
* Certified Export Compliance Professional (CXCP) or similar certification
* Knowledge of EU, US, and international export control regimes (e.g. Wassenaar Arrangement)
* Experience with trade compliance automation tools and systems
