Position Overview
This is a key leadership position, reporting to the Asset Management BHS Delivery Manager or delegate.
The function of the role is to provide services for the operation & maintenance of Dublin Airport’s Baggage Handling Systems and baggage control room. Our asset base includes, but is not limited to, 14km of conveyor, Automated sortation units, PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI systems, EDS X-ray machines in Ireland’s busiest airport. The role is shift based (24/7), 12-hour shifts across a 4-week cycle.
Responsibilities
Ensure vigilant oversight and maintenance of relevant campus systems in adherence with regulatory compliance and Dublin Airport Asset Management Standards.
Full ownership for the performance of relevant engineering systems as well as the productivity, efficiency, and performance of shift workflow. Take accountability for workflows to optimise response times, resolution times, downtime, duration of maintenance, work order completion rates, planned and corrective maintenance, effectiveness and provide feedback.
Monitor and control the BHS via SCADA and other relevant control systems and software from within the Control Room. Investigate root cause of jams and stoppages and utilise systems to monitor inbound/outbound baggage operations across the terminals.
Lead critical asset inspections and health checks of systems, ensuring minimum KPI achievement and availability targets of assets are met.
Work closely with the wider asset management leadership team to provide technical guidance, support services, efficiencies, continuous improvement initiatives and ideas to maintain and improve all applicable assets across the campus.
Provide support, guidance and relevant updates to other departments and key stakeholders as required during shifts. Coordinate and manage with stakeholders in the event of BHS and associated or third‑party systems failure. Take full responsibility for all equipment uptime, response times, resolution times, and percentage completion rates of planned and corrective maintenance work orders for all systems assigned to the work group.
Deliver accurate reporting (including incident reporting) utilising all systems available, including an effective shift handover procedure and end of shift report.
Collaborating closely with the planning team, ensure full use of CMMS for the scheduling, generation and recording of all planned, reactive, and corrective works in the most efficient, safe and effective manner possible in a dynamic live operational environment. This includes accurate and complete recording of timecards, escalations and completion of the appropriate workflows, with the aim of analysing & improving performance of the system’s reliability and asset management processes. Lead your team so as to ensure they are effectively and accurately using and creating asset history and compliance records to support evidence of effective management of the asset management systems including inventory use.
Assist in development of P2W, RAMS and emergency safety documentation as and when required.
Provide site supervision of asset management maintenance contractors working on Dublin Airport assets ensuring that they operate in a safe manner and challenge non-conformance to standards and policy.
Active promotion of health and safety across your team and contractors.
Carry out and record completion of all toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Participate in training required.
Lead your team and drive high performance standards by upholding Quality Assurance Standards, managing schedules, attendance and leave, PRP (performance matters) sessions, health and safety adherence.
Demonstrate flexibility in terms of hours of work, shift patterns, out of hours call‑ins, remote technical support, and modern multi‑skilling work practices.
Qualifications
A minimum of three years post Electrician apprenticeship experience, ideally with some demonstrable experience of acting in a Team Lead/step‑up capacity.
A comprehensive technical understanding of all asset types utilised within the BHS systems.
Proven ability to lead and communicate effectively.
Strong operational awareness with the ability to analyse, evaluate and prioritise situations.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail including scheduling, planning and time management.
Good interpersonal skills and a motivated leader, capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving capabilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and the CMMS system.
A strong focus on health and safety for self and the ability to lead by example in this area.
A broad technical understanding of the various asset types at Dublin Airport.
Willingness to participate in personal professional development.
Open‑minded approach and willingness to embrace change.
Strong influencing skills with the ability and experience to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Must possess the ability to identify stakeholder needs and manage their expectations.
