Contact Email : Post Summary The Open Access Librarian supports key initiatives, repositories, and workflows for open research, open scholarship, and wider digital scholarly activities in the University.
Situated in the Library's division of Content Management & Open Scholarship (CMOS), the post-holder reports to the Deputy Head, CMOS, Digital.
Working closely with the Systems Librarian, as well as with stakeholders in Trinity Research and IT Services, the post-holder manages the University's open access institutional repository, TARA (Trinity's Access to Research Archive).
The post-holder provides advice to Library staff, postgraduate students, and Trinity researchers in related areas, including open access publishing, copyright, research data management, FAIR data, and bibliometrics.
The post-holder contributes to the Library's strategic development of digital tools and services to enhance the Library's capabilities in these areas, and is instrumental in their implementation and use.
Advocacy for open scholarship aims and methods, as well as helping with community building, is an important part of the post, both in Trinity and beyond.
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract This appointment is for the specific purpose of managing TARA (Trinity's Access to Research Archive), as part of the ongoing transition of responsibilities to the Content Management & Open Scholarship (CMOS) division of the Library.
You will be required to oversee and provide user support for the current TARA system, lead stakeholder engagement, and contribute to the preparation of a Request for Tender (RFT).
This post is not offered on an indefinite basis as the current TARA system has reached the end of its contract lifecycle and needs to be reviewed.
Specific detail of the nature of the next TARA system will not be known until the required procurement process is completed, and the role may not continue in its current form.
A review of the operational model and associated roles will be necessary following the completion of the tender.
The long-term capacity of the post will be contingent upon the outcome of this review.? Hours of Post: 35 hours per week Working hours are 35 hours per week.
The post is part of the Saturday Duty rota, normally once every seven weeks, and part of the Evening Duty rota, normally once a fortnight during term time.
Attendance patterns are per agreement with the line manager.
The post may include occasional travel, e.g.
to national and international conferences.
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Assistant Librarian 2 Full Salary Scale (€46,242 - €63,550 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
