Contract: Permanent full time, 39 hours per week Monday to Friday plus weekend on‑call rota

Bloomfield Hospital has been providing specialised treatment, care and support to adults with a range of severe and enduring mental health needs and neuropsychiatric disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, dementia, schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease, for more than 200 years. The Role
Working closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team, our Director of Nursing will provide leadership to and be responsible for the development and enhancement of the entire Nursing Department, including Health Care Assistants, Mental Health and Peer Support Workers, and Activity Co‑ordinator team. This is a critical senior leadership position, accountable for overseeing the implementation of quality and patient safety frameworks across the wider organisation, including but not limited to Mental Health Commission Regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear, strategic vision for the evolving role of the entire Nursing Department, along with a proven track record of developing, coaching and mentoring others to support and strengthen continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage patient treatment and care to ensure the highest professional standards are in place.
Provide a high level of professional and clinical expertise and leadership.
Support the development of new and innovative services that bridge the neurological and psychiatric disciplines.
Contribute to the Senior Management Team on both a strategic and operational level.
Oversee the professional maintenance of nursing records in accordance with local service, regulatory and professional standards.
Develop and promote positive interdisciplinary relationships to enhance and maintain quality patient care.
Lead the implementation of nursing practice developments that promote and raise the profile of nursing specialism with the model of care delivered, and monitor their effectiveness.
Advise, support and guide the Assistant Directors of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Managers in workforce planning and resourcing.

Minimum Requirements and Skills
Registered or eligible for registration in the Psychiatric Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
A minimum of 12 years post‑registration psychiatric nursing experience, of which at least 4 years at ADON level.
Post‑graduate qualification at not less than Level 8 (QQ1) in a health care or nursing management related area, with evidence of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD).
