Since 2022, Cork has been chosen as the center of Excellence for Fire Detection Connected Services. This is due to the success of innovative products built by the team in Cork. One such project is Xaap, a mobile and web-based application. Xaap provides building inspection reporting in a single, centralized platform for tracking, maintaining, and reporting building system compliance.
For 8 years, facility managers and their teams have used the Xaap compliance reporting software to test nearly 84 million individual building devices, including fire alarms, extinguishers, security devices, sprinklers, and other systems across North America. Xaap has helped these customers identify more than 1 million deficiencies within their building systems, uncovering many opportunities to improve building safety and compliance and save lives.

What You Will Do
Act as a senior software engineer in the development of a compelling set of end-to-end cloud-based solutions, delivering rich interactive experiences across a broad spectrum of connected platforms and services. Leverage real-world background and insight in user experience and human interface engineering to contribute towards the delivery of unique and compelling experiences, delivering information effectively through intuitive, easy-to-use client services and applications. The Senior Software Engineer will be instrumental in delivering solutions that leverage cloud-based services integrated with Johnson Controls’ world-class products.
How You Will Do It
Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of enterprise solutions.
Participates in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.
Contributes to the development of new techniques, models, and plans within your area of expertise.
Evaluates complex issues using multiple sources of information.
Works as part of an Agile/Scrum team.
Defines the technical implementation of system architecture.
Leads the development of application features from requirements definition, design, coding, testing, to deployment and Level 3 support.
Reviews frameworks, coding standards, conducts code reviews and design reviews.
Interfaces with Product Management, Project Management, Software Development, Firmware Development, and Quality Assurance to ensure high-quality product delivery.
Mentors junior engineers to build high-performance teams.
What We Look For
* Ability to work in the office 3 days per week (most of the year).
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; four years relevant work experience may substitute for education.
* Proficiency in analyzing complex issues and architectures; strong analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and team management skills.
* Ability to exercise independent judgment and be self-motivated.
* At least 3 years developing large-scale enterprise IT initiatives.
* Technical knowledge and experience in cloud architecture and deployment platforms.
* Experience with distributed processing solutions, NoSQL and relational databases, and web services technologies.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience with Enterprise Java and object-oriented programming languages (Java, C#).
* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Swarm, and automated build/test tools like Jenkins, Maven, Gradle.
