It is the role of the SBCI as a national promotional institution to provide effective financial supports to the market to promote economic development of the Irish State.
The SBCI currently provides liquidity funding and guarantees to a range of on-lending finance providers to support the provision of long-term low-cost credit to SMEs in Ireland.
Since its launch in 2014, SBCI liquidity and guarantees have supported lending of over €4 billion to more than 60,000 SMEs through our wide range of on-lending partners including banks, alternative lenders, asset and invoice finance funders and credit unions.
Role Summary The SBCI has a requirement for a Lending Manager who will be responsible for relationship management of a portfolio of on-lenders, predominantly in the non-bank sector, to whom the SBCI provides liquidity and / or guarantee facilities.
The successful candidate will have experience in the financial services and / or banking sector with an ability to engage with On-Lenders at a senior level.
Principal Accountabilities The role will include and is not limited to: Preparation of detailed and professional credit papers (analysing all business, financial operational and legal risks) with presentation of same to Credit Committee and Board for approval.
Managing relationships with 3rd party due diligence providers (commercial and financial).
Negotiation and execution of complex legal and security documentation, in conjunction with NTMA Legal and our 3rd party legal advisors.
Ongoing review of covenant compliance.
Ongoing day to day management of on-lender relationships.
Support the Lending team in the process of onboarding and managing on-lenders participating in the loan guarantee schemes.
Ensure all SBCI policies and procedures are adhered to and that satisfactory control testing is in place.
Manage the process for
(i) the periodic audit of on-lenders completed by professional services firms on behalf of the SBCI and ensure all findings / recommendations are actioned within agreed timelines and
(ii) periodic internal audits of SBCI processes, procedures and controls.
Participate in the cross functional teams established to develop and deliver the loan schemes.
Managing, training and developing more junior team members.
The SBCI operates with a small and focused team, which means that flexibility is required from all team members to contribute to efforts beyond their specific areas of responsibility when necessary.
All team members are expected to participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives within the SBCI and with external stakeholders.
Experience / Qualification Third level relevant qualification preferably in finance/banking.
At least 7 years' experience in the banking and / or financial services sector.
Credit Risk/Lending experience in the Corporate or SME sector.
Skills Demonstrable commercial banking / finance experience.
Strong track record of risk management and customer relationship management.
Excellent professional report writing, presentation and negotiations skills.
Highly analytical with the ability to create and analyse complex financial models and cashflows.
Strong knowledge of legal and security documentation.
Effective planning skills with a proven ability to prioritise work to achieve objectives within strict timescales and to manage the demands and expectations of multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, and to collaborate across teams.
Flexibility to adapt as the role may require.
Regularly demonstrate a high level of teamwork, sharing, collaboration, innovation, and accountability to achieve SBCI's purpose.
