About the Role
Avoca is seeking a commercially aware and hands‑on GL Accountant to join the Finance team on a 12-month fixed‑term contract. This role will support the management of the general ledger across a fast‑paced multi‑site retail and hospitality business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in month‑end close, reconciliations, revenue reporting, compliance and financial controls while supporting continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across the Avoca Group
Complete weekly and monthly reconciliations including cash, bank and intercompany accounts
Support month‑end and year‑end close activities
Prepare accruals, prepayments, CAPEX, stock and COGS journals
Reconcile retail sales data across EPOS systems and Oracle Cloud
Support revenue recognition and online sales reporting
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations within BlackLine
Support VAT, VIES, Intrastat, RTD and CSO filings
Assist with internal and external audit requirements
Support finance process improvement initiatives
Work closely with finance and operational teams across the business
Skills & Experience
2–4 years' accounting experience
Experience in retail, hospitality or multi‑site environments desirable
Strong understanding of Irish accounting standards and VAT regulations
Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
Experience working to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Experience with Oracle, Cognos BI, EPOS systems or similar ERP platforms advantageous
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
Qualified accountant, finalist accountant or qualified by experience
