This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and delivery accountability, ensuring engineering work aligns with business objectives, quality standards, and timelines.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership & Team ManagementLead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, fostering high performance and engagementConduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and career development planningSupport recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning within the engineering teamPromote a culture of safety, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvementProject & Delivery ManagementPlan and manage engineering workloads, resourcing, and prioritiesPartner with Product, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to deliver on commitmentsTrack delivery against timelines, quality, cost, and performance metricsAddress risks, dependencies, and escalations proactivelyDrive the use of the QMS for effective root cause and corrective actionsStrategy & Continuous ImprovementDrive a Continuous Improvement culture within the department that supports Overall Equipment Efficiency for the plantDrive process improvements, tooling enhancements, and efficiency initiativesChampion innovation and adoption of new technologies or methods where appropriateDevelop a strategy around relevant asset replacement where appropriateTechnical & Operational OversightDrive preventative maintenance best practice, maximising greater efficiencyDevelop appropriate leading KPIs to support the site's overall metricsDrive a team-based approach to problem-solving with other site functionsEnsure relevant expenditure is within target budget requirementsFully support internal and external audits relevant to the departmentContinually review functional effectiveness and take appropriate actionEducation & ExperienceEducationDegree (Level 7 or above) in Engineering (preferably Polymer / Mechanical)Lean / Six Sigma qualifications with strong problem-solving skillsExperienceTypically 5+ years in a similar roleSkills & AbilitiesProven experience managing and developing engineering teamsStrong technical background relevant to the engineering functionExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to balance technical depth with people management and delivery focusStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilityExperience working in cross-functional environmentsWorking ConditionsStandard office environment; may require moderate travel for site visits. Occasional after-hours availability may be required to support urgent engineering issues.
