Purpose Of The Role
As the Director of Risk, you will serve as a senior strategic leader responsible for designing, transforming and embedding the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Internal Audit and resilience frameworks. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and with direct access to the Audit & Risk Committee, you will safeguard the organisation’s integrity, resilience, and long‑term sustainability by enabling risk‑informed decision making at every level of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the transformation and continuous improvement of the Group’s Enterprise Risk Framework, ensuring a modern, data‑driven and operationally embedded approach to risk management.
Developing and maintaining the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement, KRI’s and tolerance thresholds for the approval of the Audit and Risk Committee.
Delivering a risk‑based annual ERM and Internal Audit plan aligned to principal risks and strategic priorities.
Maintaining an independent and objective Internal Audit function with direct access to the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
Oversee execution of the annual Internal Audit plan, ensuring high‑quality, timely reporting and clear, actionable recommendations.
Evaluate compliance by the Group with its policies, procedures, standards, and recommend corrective actions.
Designing and embedding risk assessment methodologies and maintain enterprise‑wide corporate and operational risk registers.
Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging trends, technologies and regulatory developments.
Present comprehensive risk assessments, audit findings and mitigation strategies to the Audit and Risk Committee, and Board.
Embed first‑line risk ownership by empowering risk owners and champions to drive proactive risk management.
Implement risk incident management processes, including registration, escalation and timely reporting of risk events.
Drive risk culture, training and continuous improvement through communication, workshops and companywide engagement.
Skills & Experience
Degree in risk management, finance, or a related field.
Senior experience in enterprise risk and/or internal audit within a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of audit practices, risk assessment methodologies, control testing and reporting.
Credibility with senior stakeholders and the ability to influence constructively.
Expertise with GRC systems, audit management platforms and data analytics tools.
Experience leading change transformation and continuous improvement.
Demonstrable experience driving organisational risk culture and embedding risk in operational environments.
