Dublin Dental University HospitalHead and Neck Oncology Co-ordinator Grade V (Permanent, Full Time)The DDUH is seeking to recruit a Head and Neck Oncology Co-ordinator Grade V in a Permanent & Full-Time capacity to join the team as soon as possible.The Head and Neck Oncology Co-ordinator will provide comprehensive coordination and support for patients undergoing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for head and neck cancers in the DDUH. The post holder will act as a central point of contact for patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring timely access to services, smooth care pathways, data accuracy, and adherence to national cancer control protocols.The position reports to and is accountable to the Consultants in Dental Oncology and the Head of Division of Restorative Dentistry & Periodontology and onwards to the Clinical Director and DDUH Executive.Outline of Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe role of the Head and Neck Oncology Co-ordinator includes but is not limited to:Serve as the primary liaison for patients throughout the dental oncology portion of the head and neck cancer pathway, from referral to survivorship or palliative care.Facilitate timely diagnostic work-up, staging, and treatment planning.Support patients and families with information, education and navigation of the dental healthcare system.Promote continuity of communication between ENT, oncology, radiotherapy, maxillofacial, speech and language therapy, dietetics, palliative care, and other relevant services.Identify and escalate barriers to patient flow (e.g., diagnostic delays, capacity issues).Collaborate with clinical leads to optimise pathways and implement service improvements.Participate in audits, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives.Contribute to cancer performance reporting and NCCP audits.Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in line with GDPR and HSE data policies.Manage waiting times, tracking, and performance indicators (e.g., referral-to-diagnosis and diagnosis-to-treatment intervals).Produce reports and activity summaries for management and external stakeholders such as the HSE and NCCP, as required.Promote shared decision-making and informed consent.Assist in linking patients with psychosocial, financial, community, and survivorship supports.The extent and speed of change in the delivery of services is such that adaptability is essential to this level of appointment. It will be reviewed and updated in line with future needs.Qualifications, Experience and Person SpecificationEach candidate must: (i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004.Or(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish1.
