Minimum Qualifications
Possess S1 or T1 (preferably in Telecommunication / Networking or Instrumentation) or higher qualification.
Or possess Grade 10 or N2 or NQF level 3 (preferably in Telecommunication / Networking or Instrumentation) with minimum 3‑5 years of working experience in Telecommunication, Networking or Instrumentation field.
Requirements
Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience in a related role.
Computer skills (MS Office and Simplicity).
Analytical and detail oriented.
Valid driver’s license.
Clear security screening record.
Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
Ability to schedule and prioritise work.
Ability to plan and organise work.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure over‑inspection schedules are adhered to.
On‑time replacement / repair of hardware, telephone network system and related software and/or electronics to ensure production continuity.
Conduct audits on adequacy and quality of systems, procedures, practices (measured against standards / SOPs) on time / regularly.
Drive to areas where work is required.
Ensure SOPs and standards are adhered to continuously.
Optimise workflow in line with changes in technology or output requirements.
Adhere to maintenance schedules.
Provide technical telephone support, answering queries onsite, remotely or via phone or email.
Ensure prompt action on sub‑standard activities.
Optimise system availability by conducting daily visual checks on telephone exchanges, repairing faulty telephone lines surface and underground, testing and repairing 2 meg fibre links, installing new telephone lines surface and underground, monthly checks and testing of exchange UPS backup power, and monthly testing of exchange generators.
Job Purpose
The Artisan Telecommunication is responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of all telecommunication equipment surface and underground within an area of responsibility.
