The Role
Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, the Electrical Design Engineer will focus on developing innovative electrical solutions for a multinational client base. The role requires delivery of projects on time and within budget while managing complex technical scopes.
You will work across a broad range of projects, contributing to the design and commissioning of state-of-the‑art automated equipment used in the manufacture of life‑saving medical devices.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Develop new electrical designs and concepts
Evaluate and interpret customer specifications
Select appropriate components and materials for electrical systems
Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety standards and regulations, implementing risk mitigation measures where required
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and customers to deliver integrated solutions
Conduct electrical testing and troubleshooting to validate performance and functionality
Perform electrical qualifications (EQs), machine power‑up checks, quality checks, and provide project support
Set up and commission machines following power‑up
Provide technical input to estimation, procurement, commercial, and bid teams
Participate in project meetings and deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders
Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practice
Qualifications & Experience
Third‑level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, completion of an electrical apprenticeship, or related discipline
3–5 years’ experience in an electrical design role or relevant electrical systems exposure
Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
Knowledge of automated machine design, specification, and development
Exposure to robotics, motion control, machine vision, and pneumatics is advantageous
Ability to generate technical documentation
Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with experience troubleshooting complex electrical issues
Self‑motivated with high initiative and the ability to work effectively within multifunctional project teams
