Kylemore Abbey set on a Monastic Estate in Connemara, is one of Irelands top visitor attractions. We are currently recruiting for the role of Deputy Head of Food and Catering. Reporting to the Head of Food and Catering, the Deputy Head of Food and Catering supports the Head of Food and Catering in the strategic and operational management of four food and beverage outlets across the Estate. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality food and customer service and will involve deputising in the absence of the Head of Food and Catering. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing our food offering and overall visitor experience. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Support the day-to-day management of four food and beverage outlets across the Estate, and event catering when required. Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, speed of service, and customer care across all outlets. Monitor stock control, ordering, and waste reduction to support budget management. Leadership and Staff Management Support the recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and development of team members. Lead regular team meetings. Oversee Performance Management. Supervise and motivate teams to deliver excellent visitor-focused service Delegate as required. Health, Safety, and Compliance Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety legislation. Support the implementation and monitoring of HACCP systems and food safety audits. Ensure allergen management procedures are fully implemented and followed. Product and Service Development Support the introduction of new concepts, menus, retail food products, and service innovations. Support sustainability initiatives, including local sourcing and waste reduction. Financial and Administrative Duties Assist with budget monitoring. Support procurement processes and supplier management. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation. Rostering. Deputy Duties Deputise for the Head of Food and Catering as required. Represent the department at meetings and events when needed. Support strategic planning and policy development. Person Specification Essential Relevant experience in a managerial role in catering or hospitality. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting. Desirable Management qualification or professional catering qualification. Knowledge of budget management and procurement processes. Experience of implementing service improvements or change initiatives. This is a full-time permanent position, with daytime hours, based in Kylemore Abbey.
