Financial Controller
Overview
We're hiring a commercially-minded, hands-on Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance across a multi-million turnover group with multiple legal entities across jurisdictions. This is a broad role covering end-to-end finance: ownership of the P&L, strong financial control, statutory reporting, tax and compliance, and practical leadership of a small team. You'll also drive improvements, including process optimisation and ERP implementation.
Key Responsibilities
* Full ownership of monthly management accounts and P&L for multiple entities, including variance analysis and clear commentary.
* Lead month-end close: accruals, prepayments, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and review.
* Prepare consolidated reporting where required, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
* Produce timely, accurate MI packs (KPIs, performance trends, cash, working capital, margin analysis).
* Maintain strong controls across revenue recognition, costs, provisions, FX, and intercompany.
* Oversee AP function: supplier management, payment runs, approvals, controls, query resolution, and process discipline.
* Oversee AR function: billing accuracy, credit control, debtor days, dispute resolution, cash allocation and reporting.
* Payroll review: ensure payroll is accurate and compliant, reconcile payroll control accounts, review deductions and reporting, and partner with HR/outsourced payroll provider.
* Prepare statutory accounts for multiple entities (Irish/UK GAAP and/or IFRS depending on group requirements).
* Manage tax compliance across jurisdictions, including:
* VAT returns and reconciliations
* PAYE/PRSI/UK payroll taxes oversight
* Corporation tax computations support, liaising with external tax advisors
* Drive process improvement across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, month-end close and reporting—reduce manual work and strengthen controls.
* Manage and develop a small finance team: coaching, task allocation, performance standards, and cover planning.
Skills & Experience Required
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
* Strong track record as a Financial Controller / Finance Manager / Senior Accountant in a multi-entity environment.
* Experience across multi-jurisdiction reporting and compliance
* Solid understanding of statutory accounts preparation and audit management.
* Strong working knowledge of VAT and payroll controls; comfortable coordinating tax compliance with advisors.
* Hands-on attitude: comfortable operating at detail level while still owning the bigger picture.
* Clear communicator who can challenge constructively and bring non-finance stakeholders with you.
