Job Purpose
The Support Worker will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to assist Service Users in living fulfilling, independent lives. You will provide compassionate, person-centred care and promote dignity, choice, and respect at all times.
Your role is to enable and empower Service Users to achieve their personal goals, develop life skills, and participate fully in their communities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct care and support in daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
Support Service Users with their individual care plans, helping them to engage in meaningful social, recreational, and educational activities.
Encourage independence and promote self-care skills where possible.
Assist with meals, ensuring Service Users maintain good nutrition and hydration.
Safely use equipment and aids in accordance with care plans and safety guidelines (e.g., hoists, wheelchairs, walking frames).
Offer emotional support, reassurance, and companionship to promote mental and emotional wellbeing.
Accompany Service Users to appointments, community activities, and social outings.
Work collaboratively with families and healthcare professionals to maintain a supportive and consistent environment.
Qualifications & Experience
A QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent) is desirable.
Previous experience in a care, disability, or mental health support setting is an advantage.
Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
A full clean driver’s licence is advantageous but not required.
