The AMicrobioM project is funded by Research Ireland and aims to characterise, isolate and biobank seaweed-accociated microbes for the discovery of novel bioactives produced by the seaweed microbiome. The bank of 300 bacterial extracts created will be screened for the production of bioactives relevant to crop health (defence elicitors, antimicrobials, biostimulants), and structurally characterised. The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a team comprised of the PI and one PhD student. Under the supervision of the PI, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to take a leadership role for the day-to-day activities of the research team.
