About Us
At CoolPlanet, we provide intelligent, data-driven solutions for energy efficiency and have grown in expertise to become the foremost multi-disciplinary energy services company. Our client base includes large energy-consuming organisations from the industrial, food & beverage and commercial sectors across the globe.
We develop and design innovative energy efficiency solutions tailored specifically to each client site by examining, modelling and analysing operational data, processes and equipment. Our approach is grounded in robust data analysis, digital tools and engineering expertise to identify, quantify and implement energy conservation measures across multiple departments and functions within client organisations.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an engineer with established experience to take on increased responsibility within a data-led energy services organisation.
In this role, the Intermediate Solutions Engineer will deliver engineering analysis, solution development and project support activities with a high degree of independence for defined scopes of work. The role spans multiple stages of the project lifecycle and multiple internal teams, using CoolPlanet's CPOS-led, data-driven approach as the foundation for engineering analysis and decision-making.
As part of this role, Intermediate Solutions Engineers may also be asked to take responsibility for organising, tracking and reporting on their own stream of solution design work within a structured PMO environment, ensuring progress, priorities and blockers are visible and well managed.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver energy assessments, engineering studies and solution development activities for defined scopes of work with limited supervision
* Collect, validate and analyse site energy, utility and process data to generate robust, data-driven engineering insights
* Use CoolPlanet's internal tools and platforms, including CPOS, to independently analyse system performance and identify energy efficiency opportunities
* Develop, own and quality-check energy-saving calculations, models and defined sections of technical reports and client-facing documentation
* Own and deliver defined elements of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Detailed Design (EDD) activities, including preparation of design documentation, specifications and drawings
* Work with cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers, contractors, clients) as required for assigned scopes
* Take responsibility for planning, tracking and communicating progress on assigned solution design work, including identifying risks or blockers and escalating where appropriate
* Contribute to internal design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
* Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Energy Systems or a related discipline
* Typically several years of experience in an engineering, energy or industrial environment
* Demonstrated ability to independently deliver defined engineering scopes and work packages
* Strong analytical capability with experience using data to inform engineering decisions
* Ability to manage priorities, track progress and maintain momentum across multiple tasks
* Effective communicator, capable of engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Comfortable working within established processes while contributing to improvements.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* A Master's qualification in an energy-related field of study
* Professional accreditations such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar
* Experience working on industrial, manufacturing or large energy-consuming sites, including food & beverage environments
* Working knowledge or practical experience across one or more of the following systems:
* Thermal systems (steam and hot water)
* Refrigeration and cooling systems
* Compressed air systems
* Industrial heat pump technologies
* Renewable energy technologies
* Experience using data analytics tools, digital engineering platforms or performance monitoring systems
* Interest in AI tooling, large language models and automation to enhance engineering analysis, insight generation or workflow efficiency
Location
This position will be based primarily out of CoolPlanet's Powerscourt House office in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, with a hybrid working arrangement available.
Intermediate Solutions Engineers are expected to maintain a regular office presence to support collaboration, coordination of work and engagement with wider engineering and delivery teams, while also having flexibility to work remotely where appropriate.
The role will involve customer and client site visits, and international travel may be required depending on the project and delivery needs.
Options to temporarily relocate to a particular region may be considered.
