Job Description: Healthcare Assistant Work Experience
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) work experience candidate. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in healthcare and will be enrolled or willing to enrol in a healthcare assistant course.
This is an unpaid work experience position with a view to obtaining a permanent position as a Healthcare Assistant within our organization. If you are a dedicated and compassionate individual looking to gain experience in the healthcare field, we encourage you to apply.
Please note that this training is available through Wicklow and Arklow Further Education and Training Board or online through various training organisations.
Responsibilities:
* Assist care recipients with activities of daily living, such as washing, dressing, and grooming.
* Help care recipients with mobility and transfers.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to care recipients.
* Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
* Monitor, record and report any changes/issues to the line manager.
* Assist with medication prompt.
* Keep accurate records of care and activities.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for care recipients.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of basic care techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
* Reliable and trustworthy.
* Ability to work alternative weekend and some evenings.
* Access to own car and clean driving licence
Qualifications Required:
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support preferrable or minimum of Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules.
Please note that this training is available through KWETB or online training.
* Experience working with elderly or disabled care recipients.
