The Organisation: Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities.
We support people across a wide range of services within residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.
Purpose of the Post: To work as part of the Equine Therapy team at Stewarts Care involves assisting the Equine Therapy Manager to develop, organise and implement our Therapeutic Equine Programme.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Equine Instructor to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equine care, training and welfare, a patient demeanour, and a commitment to providing fun, safe and beneficial experiences for our riders.
Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role: Previous experience as an equine instructor, riding coach, or similar role (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
Valid riding qualifications (e.g., BHS, ABRS) preferred but not essential.
Experience working with horses, preferably in a riding school/therapeutic riding environment.
Strong understanding of equine behaviour, training and handling techniques.
A passion for equine welfare and commitment to promoting safe and effective riding practices.
Experience working with riders of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced levels.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with riders of all ages and abilities.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Strong stable management skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons.
Experience in maintaining accurate records and handling administrative tasks.
