R&D Scientist (Microbiology)

One of their main products is used to disinfect 30 billion litres of water annually.
They are currently seeking a Microbiologist to join an established R&D team that is based in a modern Micro lab that was constructed in **** located in their manufacturing facility in Wexford.
It's an excellent opportunity to join an R&D team with established projects underway in the discovery of new disinfection technologies.
The ideal person shall have a minimum of a master's in microbiology with 1-2 years industry experience from preferably the Food/Beverage Sector.
They will also consider applicants coming from a Pharma/Med Device Micro background.
Role/Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for the S2 Microbiology laboratory and work conducted therein, ensuring the highest safety standards
Supervision of Microbiology staff and R&D technicians & work planning
Function as the microbiological expert for our clients Wexford site, contributing to the research & development of new products
Project management of both Microbiology and R&D projects
Provide microbiological & technical support to Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations teams
Manage efficacy testing for products manufactured on site
Responsibility for scheduling, organising, executing and documenting R&D product development projects and other associated activities.
Contribution of new ideas for research, development and analysis of new and existing products.
Actively pursue collaborations in academia and other relevant industry and professional networks.
Support customer training in person and virtually e.g. through webinars
Attend and or present at exhibitions and conferences
To liaise with internal departments to provide support and advice for product developments and validation.
This would include for example: Advice on monitoring laboratory or field studies, Feedback on the stage of progress of current projects, Competitor product evaluations, Technical assessment of new sources of raw materials
To search for and collate testing data from academic literature and other sources.
To revise and maintain data within technical reports.
To assist with writing product claims and marketing literature.
To carry out experiments and trial within Microbiology lab, R&D Lab and in field when needed.
To maintain and develop R&D administrative systems.
To cooperate with auditors internal and external and to respond to any resulting audit reports.
To conform to Company and other regulatory requirements with respect to cGMP, health & safety, etc.
Engage continually in developing World Class practices while driving out costs, waste (both time and materials) and inefficiencies.
Develop a precise understanding of the competitive set micro-biological efficacy comparison and advise best actions.
Support of product registrations, particularly in relation to microbiology support
Engage with the wider group on R&D and microbiology topics
Work to ensure highest level of teamwork and cooperation between departments at all times
Assisting in the maintenance of Good Manufacturing Practice throughout the factory.
Experimental design, planning and execution
Liaison with QA, Production and Marketing
Implementation of new methods and method development
Review & approval of product artwork
Assist with R&D tax credit applications
Assist with writing product claims and marketing literature
Carry out of responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and local laws

Education/Experience:
Minimum MSc/PhD in microbiology or related discipline
1-2 years' work experience within food/pharmaceutical/medical device or microbiological industries desirable
Strong communication, writing, problem-solving skills & project management
Proficient in use of MS Office packages
Self-motivated, accuracy and attention to detail required
High level of ownership required with the ability to work as part of a global team
Must be available to be on site in Wexford lab/office full time
