They are seeking an experienced
Commercial Lead
to take ownership of a substantial commercial scope—circa
€300M worth of packages
—within a major program based in
Austria
. The role sits as a key senior commercial figure on the project, partnering closely with project leadership and reporting into the wider commercial function (e.g., Commercial Director / Regional Commercial Lead).
This appointment is driven by the scale and complexity of the current delivery phase, requiring a commercially astute leader who can strengthen governance, protect margin, and maintain contractual discipline while supporting delivery teams on the ground. You'll be central to strategy around procurement, risk allocation, change control, and stakeholder alignment across multiple workstreams and interfaces.

Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end commercial management of major mechanical, piping and electrical packages (approx. €300M).
* Own contract strategy and administration across key trade scopes and supply chain partners.
* Drive robust
change management
: EOTs, variations, claims preparation/assessment, and negotiation.
* Oversee
CVRs
, forecasting, margin protection, and performance reporting to senior leadership.
* Build and manage a project risk/opportunity register and ensure commercial mitigations are executed.
* Lead procurement strategy and commercial negotiations across critical subcontract and vendor packages.
* Ensure compliance with governance processes, approvals, and audit-ready commercial documentation.
* Partner with project delivery leadership to resolve commercial issues impacting program and progress.
* Manage stakeholder engagement across client, consultant, and contractor interfaces with confidence and clarity.
* Mentor and develop commercial team members, setting standards for best practice and accountability.
Criteria for the Role
* Significant experience in senior commercial leadership roles within engineering-led construction environments (MEP / piping / electrical strongly preferred).
* Demonstrated track record managing large, complex package values and multi-interface delivery programs.
* Strong capability across contract administration, claims, variations, EOTs, and commercial negotiations.
* High-level commercial reporting, forecasting, and CVR ownership with a margin-protection mindset.
* Confident stakeholder manager—able to influence at senior client and internal leadership levels.
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Experience leading and developing commercial teams in live project environments.
