Operations Accountant
Purpose
Responsible for all of the Financial affairs of the Plant.
Primary objective is to plan, control, administer, interpret and report the financial affairs, both to management at local level and division.
Preparation of Monthly Financial and Management Accounts to strict deadlines.
Preparation of Annual Plan and Updates and revisions to same.
Control Capital Expenditure.
Forecast and reporting on project expenditure.
Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to including Sarbanes – Oxley compliance.
Provide Support to Manufacturing Facility.
Responsibilities
Ensure that monthly accounts are completed and reviewed within a pre-determined schedule.
Update and evaluation of Project Management System.
Preparation of all plans/updates and LBE's for review by Plant Finance Manager and Site Director.
Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Review and Maintenance of all Requests for Capital Expenditure.
Evaluate and record all cost improvement programs.
Ensure monthly accounts comply with all policies and procedures including Sarbanes – Oxley requirements.
Provide Support to the Manufacturing Facility, participation in weekly meetings, and awareness of safety.
Project Evaluation – involves the continuous update and review of projects so as to assist the Site Director and Plant Controller in accurate decision-making.
Variance Analysis – Monthly Management accounts must be reviewed, to identify any deviations from Plan or Update thereby enabling corrective action to be taken if necessary.
Technical Activities – Provide advice and information to all employees on accounting issues.
Working with the Plant to ensure plans, updates and LBE's are achieved.
Project Management - ensure projects are running in line with expectations.
Adheres to and supports all EHS standards, procedures and policies.
Supervision Received
Individuals will be self-motivated and work with a high level of autonomy.
This role reports to the Plant Finance Manager.
Goals are reviewed on a regular basis and formal performance reviews are carried out once per year.
Supervision Provided
This position does not have any direct reports.
This position has Contacts with all levels of management in the Plant and within AbbVie.
Contact with external auditors, U.S. finance personnel.
May provide cross training and guidance to new department members.
Qualifications
Qualified Accountant – ACCA, ACA or ACMA
Job/Technical Skills
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a financial/accounting position.
Cognitive/Business Skills
Requires a high level of attention to detail and mental concentration, to ensure accuracy and total compliance with financial procedures at all times.
Requires proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new regulatory requirements.
Must be results driven striving to meet all targets and metric standards as set by department/site and division leaders.
Requires innovative thinking, where new and untested solutions are proposed, demonstrated and implemented on a regular basis.
Requires total commitment to quality and maintaining a high standard of work at all times.
Demonstrates the highest levels of integrity and a strong work ethic at all times.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written are required for the execution of this role.
Strong interpersonal skills are required.
Works well with all team members in an inclusive, friendly and professional manner.
Supports the principles of Perfect Performance.
Ownership and Accountability
Take full ownership for accurate for month end and year-end financial reporting.
Responsible for Preparation of Annual Plan and Updates and revisions to same.
Ensure AbbVie is in compliance with all Financial Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for keeping up to date with any changes in regulations or legislation.
Shows a high level of tenacity to ensure closure of issues.
Demonstrates an ethos of Right First Time at all times.
Adheres to and follows all procedures policies and guidelines ensuring compliance with cGMP and HPRA/FDA regulations at all times.
Ensures compliance with all financial process, policies and procedures.
Influence/Leadership
Provides guidance to site leaders on financial impact of decision making.
Maybe required to lead cost improvement project.
Must be able to influence leaders on capital evaluation projects.
Decision Making/Impact
Strong decision-making responsibility is part of this role.
Employee is expected to evaluate all the information available to them and come to the best decisions for the business.
Is expected to give guidance to Site Lead ers on decisions relating to financial matters.
