Role Profile
An exciting opportunity exists at Tirlán’s UHT facility in Lough Egish, Co. Monaghan, for a Process Engineer. Reporting to the Site Process Manager, this role focuses on optimizing plant performance through process and automation system improvements. The plant handles processes such as Pasteurisation/Separation, UHT heat treatment, Ingredient mixing, and Automated consumer packing.
Responsibilities
1. End-to-end process and plant optimization across production, filling, packing, utilities, and Milk/Cream intake.
2. Serve as Process SME and provide technical support for production issues.
3. Establish and optimize performance standards across all plant processes.
4. Collaborate with Qualification Lead to qualify/re-qualify processes to meet KPIs.
5. Engage stakeholders including Quality and Production teams in process development, design, and testing.
6. Use Change Control Systems to secure approval for changes.
7. Plan and execute process changes with Production/Quality teams.
8. Monitor MES KPI data, report, and analyze trends.
9. Use data insights to recommend performance improvements.
10. Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities for KPI enhancement.
11. Own process documentation, including SOPs, process logs, and training materials.
12. Complete QSM documentation such as Change Control, Event Reports, RCAs.
13. Lead Change Control initiatives for specific processes.
14. Work with training to design and deliver process management training.
15. Assess technical competence of trainees and train staff on automation and MES systems.
16. Apply DMAIC tools for process characterization, optimization, and troubleshooting.
17. Collaborate with R&D for new product trials and implementation.
18. Support commissioning of new equipment and process upgrades with contractors.
Requirements
* Third-level qualification in Science, Health & Safety, Food, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (desirable).
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Food/Beverage or Pharmaceutical manufacturing, particularly in process/production management and automation systems.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Process Improvement; Six Sigma qualification is desirable.
* Proven ability to operate within high-quality manufacturing standards.
* Results-driven, customer-focused, and capable of performing in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to analyze data, recognize trends, and recommend improvements.
