Michael McNamara MEP (Ireland, Renew) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled
Accredited Parliamentary Assistant
to join his team in the European Parliament. The successful candidate will lead on
communications and media relations
, ensuring that Mr McNamara's parliamentary work and broader political activity is effectively communicated to constituents and the wider public. Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of the
Irish media and political landscape is essential
.
Mr McNamara represents Ireland South and is
Co-Chair of the AI Act implementation & enforcement Working Group
, and sits on the
Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE)
and the
Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE)
. His work also spans digital policy, agriculture, foreign policy, trade, and Irish and European political affairs.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a proactive communications strategy to communicate the MEP's work in Ireland and Brussels.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Irish and European media, ensuring coverage of key priorities.
* Draft press releases and broader communications materials tailored to both Irish and EU audiences.
* Manage social media channels, including editing and posting videos.
* Monitor political and media developments in Ireland and the EU, providing strategic advice.
* Organise events and constituency engagement activities.
* Contribute to the wider work of the parliamentary office, as required.
Requirements
* Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of the Irish media and political landscape.
* Proven experience in journalism or communications, preferably in a political context.
* Awareness and understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Irish and other official EU languages is an advantage.
* Proficiency in social media management and digital communication tools.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team.
* Strong organisational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
