Overview
Our client is recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager to join their new Gorey Care Centre. This is a new 96 bed Care Centre located just off the M11 Wexford to Dublin Motorway, close to Gorey Town Centre.
Responsibilities
* Clinical Practice – Ensure the delivery of the highest standards of nursing and social care to meet the individual needs of each resident by ensuring home policies and best clinical standards are practiced. Collaborate with staff across all areas to maintain standards. Identify areas of concern and follow up with the Director of Nursing to implement action plans. Review residents with pressure sores, sustained falls, or those who are clinically unwell through clinical practices and documentation to ensure appropriate management plans are in place. Troubleshoot ongoing clinical and non-clinical issues and escalate as needed. Perform comprehensive assessments of residents and monitor ongoing assessments and modifications.
* Medication Management – Supervise medication administration and compliance by nursing staff. Order monthly stock and compile monthly stock inventory. Review medication audits with the Director of Nursing and improve standards. Liaise with GPs and pharmacy regarding medication reviews and audits.
* Staff Supervision and Training – Work alongside and be a visible presence with the Staff Nurses and Care Assistants. Participate in Training & Development/Performance Appraisal for Staff Nurses and Care Assistants in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. Ensure Care Assistants maintain a professional, yet caring approach to residents and deliver a high standard of direct care. Implement the Named Nurse and Named Care Assistant practices and monitor their effectiveness with assigned residents. Assess training needs with the Director of Nursing and implement in‑house training (e.g., infection control, palliative care, understanding challenging behaviour).
* Auditing – Review recent admissions ensuring appropriate assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of care is documented. Monitor standards of cleanliness and hygiene and foster effective working relationships and communication between Staff Nurses, Care Assistants, and housekeeping staff. Ensure environmental and hand hygiene audits are carried out regularly with action plans implemented and sustained. Carry out medication audits, health & safety audits, risk assessments, and draw up risk management plans in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. Audit Epicare and address documentation issues in association with Staff Nurses and Care Assistants.
* Residents/Relatives – Person‑Centre – Interact with and support residents and families daily. Serve as a key point of contact for relatives and visitors and act as an ambassador for the home. Ensure complaints are dealt with swiftly at the point of contact.
* Management – Assist with Director of Nursing responsibilities when covering for annual leave. Manage daily activities including rosters, attend handovers, and review resident progress. Support and develop clinical practice through a hands‑on approach with Staff Nurses and Care Assistants. Implement Company Health and Safety Policy to safeguard safety and welfare of staff, residents and others.
Qualifications, Skills And Attributes
* BSc in General Nursing or equivalent.
* Previous managerial training / experience is an advantage.
* Registered on the NMBI live register.
* Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
* Sound decision making ability.
* Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
* Ability to work well and promote a team environment.
* Results driven.
