ATG are working with a leading environmental and engineering consultancy with offices across Ireland and a growing portfolio of public and private sector clients.
Their multidisciplinary team is involved in projects across infrastructure, energy, contaminated land, brownfield regeneration, and environmental compliance.
As they expand, they are seeking a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to play a key role in delivering technical excellence and supporting the development of junior staff.
Role Overview
As a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will lead and deliver a range of site investigation, contaminated land, and remediation projects.
You will provide technical direction, manage project delivery from concept to completion, and liaise with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
This is a client-facing role offering the opportunity to shape projects that have a real environmental and societal impact.
Key Responsibilities
Design, manage, and interpret ground investigations for environmental and geotechnical assessments
Assess contaminated land risks and prepare human health and controlled waters risk assessments
Prepare technical reports, including Phase I and II Environmental Assessments, remediation strategies, and validation reports
Oversee contractor and sub-consultant activities on site, ensuring quality, health & safety, and environmental compliance
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
Support business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and contributing to strategic growth
Engage with environmental regulators, planning authorities, and statutory stakeholders
Stay abreast of relevant legislation, standards, and guidance (e.g., EPA, CLR11, BS10175, ISO standards)
Requirements
Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related Earth/Environmental Science
Minimum of 6+ years' experience in geo-environmental consultancy or related field
Strong technical knowledge of contaminated land risk assessment, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation design
Proven track record of leading projects and managing client relationships
Full driving licence and willingness to travel within Ireland
Chartered status or working towards (e.g., Engineers Ireland, IGI, IEMA)
Familiarity with GIS, groundwater modelling, or geotechnical software (e.g., HoleBASE, Surfer, Leapfrog)
Experience working within Irish regulatory frameworks (EPA, Planning and Development Acts)
Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) or experience managing multi-disciplinary projects
