Gilead’s therapeutic areas of focus include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer and inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.The PositionWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to be based at our location in Cork, working within the broader U.S. Controllership team. The role reports to the Alliance and Collaborations Director in Cork and will work closely with cross-functional business partners, support the accounting, control and reporting activities of the region, drive the quality of the information reported in the regional and consolidated financial statements and other management reporting packages by establishing strong collaborative relationships with the various business partners.This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to expand his/her technical experience while also gaining experience in complex accounting operations and supporting disclosures in related sections of SEC filings. He/she will develop working relationships with cross-functional partners and various levels of management.Support the end-to-end alliance and collaborations accounting and reporting process processesPrepare monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities for assigned accounts (e.g. journal entries, account reconciliations, royalty payments, etc.)Analyze and prepare variance explanationsPrepare external filing and management reporting schedulesManage and coordinate related incoming and outgoing paymentsMaintain appropriate internal controls for areas of responsibilitySupport the preparation of the budget/forecastWork closely with cross-functional teams including Alliance Management, FP&A, Corporate Development, Technical Accounting, Legal and various internal/external business partnersSupport contract compliance and interpretation of royalty or other financial termsAssist with various ad hoc projects/initiativesKnowledge, Experience and Skills:BA or BSc degree (or international equivalent) in accounting or equivalentExperience with/in multi-national organizationExperience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry is preferredAttention to detail, organized and thoroughSelf-motivated with a strong sense of ownershipHighly analytical and a resourceful self-starter with excellent research capabilities, problem-solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to work cohesively in a team environmentClear communicator (written and verbal) and have excellent interpersonal skillsStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) and other systems in general is preferred; Data analytics skills is a plus)Proficiency with systems (e.g., Alliant, Oracle/SAP, Hyperion) preferredHands-on operational experience in collaboration and alliance arrangements preferredGilead Core Values – need to include inclusionIntegrity (Doing What’s Right)Teamwork (Working Together)Excellence (Being Your Best)Accountability (Taking Personal ResponsibilityInclusion (Encouraging Diversity)Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)It is the policy of Gilead Sciences, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Gilead" or the "Company") to recruit select and employ the most qualified persons available for positions throughout the Company.
