Job Summary
The Evening Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for supporting healthcare staff in providing patient care, including recording vital signs and discussing chief health concerns. This role involves working under the general direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician to deliver nursing care that aligns with the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with patient care by checking vital signs, administering injections, and performing tests.
* Take patient medical histories and enter data into computer systems.
* Follow orders from Physicians and Registered Nurses to provide care.
* Record detailed reports of care given in patient records.
* Handle charting, documentation, and maintenance of patients' medical records.
* Check, clean, and dress wounds.
* Reinforce instructions given to patients by RNs or Physicians.
* Notify RNs or Physicians of significant findings or changes in patient condition.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
* Pull and prepare patient charts.
* Maintain neatness of work areas.
* Stock patient rooms with supplies.
* Provide emotional support as needed.
* Initiate emergency assistance according to policies and procedures.
* Attend staff development trainings and nursing conferences.
* Keep skills current and increase knowledge and productivity.
Qualifications
* NYS LPN licensure.
* BLS certification.
* High School or GED.
* Graduate of a formal Technical or Vocational LPN Program.
* At least One (1) year experience as an LPN working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
* Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs.
* Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
* Ability to put patients at ease and explain physician's instructions.
* Ability to multi-task with excellent organization skills.
* Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Team player and ability to work independently.
