Role:Buying Assistant Salary:€32,000-€36,000 Duration:Full time Location:Cork Buying Assistant Trusted partner for major projects across Ireland and internationally. It is recognised for its strong commitment to safety, quality, schedule adherence and cost management, consistently delivering complex capital projects to the highest standards. Employing a substantial team of professionals, the company emphasises technical depth and accredited design capabilities, ensuring excellence in every aspect of its operations. You will be reporting to the Procurement Manager while playing a key role in supporting the purchasing function by sourcing materials, components and services essential for project delivery. You will highlight achieving optimal cost, quality, lead times and supplier reliability, while maintaining full compliance with established procedures. You are required to be a proactive supply chain professional focused on implementing cost-effective and timely procurement of goods and services to meet both company and client requirements. You will ensure all materials are available on schedule and within budget, while accurately allocating costs to the appropriate contracts and cost codes. Responsibilities Create and manage purchase orders and maintain accurate records. Source and evaluate suppliers for materials, tools, equipment and services. Request and compare quotations to ensure cost-effective decisions. Track orders, expedite deliveries and resolve supply delays. Support contract negotiations and supplier onboarding. Collaborate with engineering, project management, stores and finance teams. Monitor inventory and assist with stock control and annual stock takes. Ensure compliance with quality, safety and company standards. Maintain supplier data, price lists and documentation. Contribute to process improvements and IT system enhancements. Report procurement savings and cost avoidance. Resolve payment queries with Finance and manage material flow to sites. Perform other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager. Requirements Experience in a procurement or supply chain role. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse data and figures. Excellent organisational skills and record-keeping in automated systems. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Flexible, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently. Customer-focused with a collaborative mindset.
