Summary:
UST is looking for a Lab Technician to support client R&D Lab operations based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with hardware assembly, inventory management, basic debugging, and lab infrastructure. This role involves close coordination with engineering and logistics teams to maintain efficient and compliant lab operations.
The Opportunity:
The role supports client R&D Lab operations in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland. The objective is to maintain and develop lab services including logistics, inventory management, hardware assembly, infrastructure setup, housekeeping, rework, and first‑level debug support for engineering teams.
1. Logistics & Inventory Management
* Receive and log incoming shipments, store materials appropriately.
* Maintain inventory databases, conduct audits, reorganize stock for efficiency.
2. Lab Maintenance & Infrastructure
* Keep lab clean, safe, and organized, ensuring compliance.
* Support installation of lab equipment, racks, cabling, and cable management.
* Reconfigure lab setups for new projects.
* Assist with network switch and patch cabling.
3. Hardware Assembly & Rework
* Assemble/disassemble platforms; perform hardware modifications.
* Execute PCB/SMD rework and hand soldering; document changes.
* Fit and configure hardware to engineering requirements.
* Install OS images using prescribed tools.
* Run basic power‑on checks and validate power, network, video.
* Execute test scripts, collect logs, and expedite with documentation.
5. Coordination & Reporting
* Collaborate with engineers, lab supervisors, and logistics teams.
* Track daily tasks, log reworks and shipments, support audits.
* Ensure timely delivery of daily/weekly tasks.
What you need:
To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong hands‑on technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to support a fast‑paced R&D lab environment. This includes experience in PC hardware handling, lab infrastructure, and first‑level debugging support, as well as good coordination and communication skills.
Required Skills:
* Hands‑on experience with PC assembly, hardware rework, and basic debugging.
* Familiarity with SMD soldering and PCB handling.
* Experience with lab infrastructure: cabling, rack setup, and equipment installation.
* Proficient in inventory tracking systems/tools.
* Basic OS provisioning and test execution skills.
* Strong documentation and communication abilities.
Desired Skills:
* Ability to adapt lab setups for evolving engineering requirements.
* Experience working in compliance‑focused environments.
* Comfort working in fast‑paced, dynamic lab conditions.
* Familiarity with Intel platforms is a plus.
Qualification:
* Technical diploma or degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
* Certifications in hardware handling, soldering, or inventory systems are advantageous.
