Overview TheSenior Technical & Product Underwriter is a key technical authority within the underwriting function, responsible for shaping and maintaining the underwriting foundations that enable consistent, compliant and high-quality underwriting across the business. This role isnot a day-to-day operational underwriting position. Instead, it focuses onpolicy documentation, product design, underwriting frameworks, governance, and quality assurance, ensuring underwriters are equipped with the right wordings, processes, tools and guidance to do their jobs effectively. You will take ownership of policy wordings, schedules and endorsements. Youll also be in charge of technical input into product development and change, and youll oversee a governance-led QA approach that ensures underwriting processes are being followed and remain fit for purpose. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, you willsupport underwriting teams with expert guidance on complex risks and policy interpretation, while helping the business respond to regulatory change, claims developments and evolving risk profiles. Key Responsibilities Own and govern policy wordings, endorsements, schedules and underwriting documentation. Lead technical input into product design, development and ongoing enhancement. Adapt standard policy wordings into bespoke solutions for complex or high-value risks. Design and oversee a governance-led underwriting QA framework and conduct targeted monthly QA reviews. Maintain underwriting manuals, frameworks and technical guidance. Provide expert technical support on complex risks, policy interpretation and referrals. Deliver training and technical guidance to underwriting and operational teams. Support regulatory compliance, audit activity, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your Background Strong underwriting background with experience in technical underwriting or product-focused roles. Deep understanding of policy wordings, endorsements and underwriting governance. Experience working with complex, bespoke, or high-value risks. Comfortable taking ownership of technical areas and leading change.
