Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables.

FT is currently recruiting a Principal Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Science team in either our Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of our environmental services, working collaboratively with a team of experienced professionals.

This role offers diverse projects exposure across a wide range of environmental sectors, including (but not limited to) planning and EIAR, waste management, infrastructure development, waste licensing and permitting, industrial emissions licensing and environmental due diligence.


FT's Responsibilities

What would my main responsibilities be in this role?

* Leading and managing project teams, reporting directly to a Director
* Overseeing the project management and delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), Appropriate Assessments (AAs), planning application documentation, and other environmental reports
* Providing expert technical guidance on environmental matters across the business
* Actively contributing to business development efforts and supporting growth initiatives
* Managing the execution and compliance of regulatory approvals throughout project lifecycles


Skills / Qualifications

Are you the right person for the role?

* Degree-qualified in a relevant environmental discipline
* 12-15 years of post-graduate experience in an environmental role
* Chartered status in relevant professional discipline
* Strong understanding of planning, environmental and waste management legislation
* Demonstrated experience in project management and in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, planning applications, and licence/permit applications across a broad range of projects
* Proven experience in team leadership and client management
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
* Flexible, collaborative, and an effective team member
* Strong technical writing and report reviewing skills
* Experienced in liaising with external stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and sub-contractors
* Holds a full, clean driving licence
