Responsibilities of the Data Center Construction ManagerOur global team is responsible for designing and operating large-scale, critical facilities.
Each member demonstrates construction management and analytical expertise in complex, mission-critical environments.
Daily tasks include managing the entire data center lifecycle, from site feasibility and design review to construction oversight and commissioning.
Key job responsibilitiesProject management and oversight of construction activities for new builds or capital projects in Tokyo/Kanto, including scope, timeline, and budget ownership.Drive costs down and shorten schedules while maintaining quality.Provide construction management to increase data center resiliency.Review constructability of electrical and mechanical systems and building designs.Create project scope, equipment requirements, assist with RFPs, and capital requests.Ensure project quality, including commissioning and system testing oversight.Manage RFI process during construction and coordinate with engineers.Report key metrics to team and management.Manage multiple projects, including new data centers and upgrades.Support operational procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.Lead within the team and support external stakeholders.Travel to data center sites for audits, reviews, testing, and commissioning as needed.Amazon values diverse experiences and encourages candidates to apply even if they do not meet all preferred qualifications, especially those starting their careers or with alternative experiences.

Minimum qualifications5+ years of experience in design, construction, or program management on construction projects.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings across disciplines.Experience evaluating new technologies and construction methods for data centers.Experience developing and deploying new design concepts.Excellent communication skills in Japanese (managing local vendors and stakeholders) and English (business communication), with attention to detail and high-quality standards.Preferred qualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.Experience with large data center design or construction, including colocation or client-owned facilities.Vendor and contractor negotiation and management skills.Experience with fast-track design/build and upgrade projects.Knowledge of Japanese building codes, fire codes, energy efficiency, safety, and DA submittals.Knowledge of large-scale mechanical and power systems, including reliability and risk assessments.If you need workplace accommodations during the application or onboarding process, visit for more information.
