This is a crucial role for an innovative storyteller who can capture and produce compelling video content for all our digital platforms, while also providing high-quality photography for our traditional print publications and online.The ideal candidate is passionate about visual journalism, social media trends, and engaging the community through dynamic video storytelling.Key Responsibilities:Primary Video Production: Filming and editing of high-impact video content for breaking news, features, sports, and events.Multi-Platform Content Creation: Produce and edit video content using software like CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro for a range of destinations, from long-form investigative pieces for our website to immediate, engaging short-form videos (Reels, TikToks) for social media.Visual Storytelling: Conceptualize and execute strong visual narratives in collaboration with reporters and editors, ensuring video content is impactful, informative, and complements written stories.Photography Support: Provide high-quality news and feature photography as needed for both print and online use, ensuring all content adheres to ethical standards.Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest ethical standards of journalism, ensuring all visual content is truthful, unbiased, and accurately represents the subjects and situations.Adaptability: Be prepared to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel to various locations for assignments, often in unpredictable conditions.Skills & Experience RequiredVideo Expertise (Primary): Experience in videography, including shooting, sound recording, lighting, and advanced video editing techniques.Strong Portfolio: A compelling portfolio demonstrating a range of high-quality video work, specifically highlighting social media-optimised content is essential.Social Media Savvy: An expert understanding of social media platforms and the ability to create highly engaging, shareable video content.Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using professional video cameras, lenses, lighting setups, and industry-standard editing software. Photography skills (DSLR/mirrorless) are also required.Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with sources, interviewees, and the editorial team.Logistics: A valid driver's license and vehicle is required for assignments.
