Our client, a leading Irish building contractor with over a century of excellence delivering major commercial, industrial and educational projects, is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Estimator to join their expanding team.

Role Overview The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions across a variety of large-scale construction projects.
You will collaborate closely with senior commercial staff, project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to support winning tenders and ensuring projects are commercially successful.
Key Responsibilities Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, preliminaries, and subcontractor packages.
Compile, coordinate and present complete tender submissions within required deadlines.
Analyse project risks, opportunities, and alternative methodologies.
Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
Build and maintain strong supplier/subcontractor relationships to ensure competitive pricing.
Work collaboratively with the Commercial Manager, Contracts Manager and wider teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in cost data.
Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients, consultants and design teams as required.
Provide value engineering input and propose alternative construction solutions where appropriate.
Prepare handover documentation and support the project team following tender awards.
Assist during early project stages with cost planning, procurement strategy and commercial advice.
Education & Experience Required Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related construction discipline.
Minimum 5 years experience working as an Estimator with a main contractor in Ireland; commercial project experience is an advantage.
Strong understanding of Irish construction methods, materials, subcontractor markets, and current building regulations.
High level of numerical accuracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
Proficiency with estimating software such as Buildsoft, Cubit, Causeway, as well as strong ability with Excel and commercial management systems (e.g., COINS).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in negotiating.
Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling training desirable.
