Role Summary
As a Part-Time Administrator, you will support the smooth running of our waste collection operations through effective route planning, driver communication, and customer service. You will ensure routes are optimised, schedules are accurate, and service issues are resolved promptly helping the team deliver efficient, compliant, and reliable waste management services. This is a fixed-term opportunity to cover maternity leave.
Key Accountabilities
* Route Planning & Scheduling: Create, assign, and adjust daily collection routes to maximise efficiency using route optimisation software.
* Driver Communication: Provide clear instructions, relay updates, and respond to schedule changes or emergencies.
* Customer Support: Act as a point of contact for service requests, complaints, or missed collections, ensuring timely resolution.
* Fleet Monitoring: Track vehicles via GPS, monitor adherence to assigned routes, and report on driver performance.
* Problem-Solving: Reassign resources or adjust routes to address breakdowns, traffic delays, or emergencies.
* Compliance & Safety: Promote safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations, documenting incidents as required.
* Data Entry & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of routes, collections, fuel usage, and driver hours for reporting and invoicing.
* Coordination: Liaise with operations, maintenance, and customer service teams to ensure vehicle availability and service delivery.
* Technology Use: Operate dispatch software and tracking tools; support drivers in using in-cab technology and mobile apps.
Experience And Skills
* Experience in administration, transport planning, scheduling, or dispatch (preferably in logistics or waste management).
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
* Good IT skills, including experience with route optimisation software, GPS tracking, or scheduling tools.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
* Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
