About the Employer
The Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly (EMRA) is one of the three Regional Assemblies in Ireland.
Established in January 2015, it promotes balanced regional development, coordinates strategic planning and sustainable development, and enhances local government effectiveness.
About the Role
The Director, as Chief Officer, leads the development and oversight of the organisational structures and resources required to deliver efficient operation of the Assembly's business.
Responsibilities include ensuring smooth operation, supporting and advising the Assembly on statutory functions, managing administration, representing the Assembly at regional, national and EU levels, and carrying out other duties as prescribed.
The Director works closely with the Designated Chief Executive of the Assembly to provide an advisory role and reports directly to the Assembly.
About You
Ideal candidate must have: Skills and Experience:
A senior level leadership and management record, capable of developing and motivating a multidisciplinary team and achieving high‑quality outcomes.
Good understanding of regional development from spatial planning and economic development perspectives, and knowledge of public administration in Ireland.
Understanding of European policies, programmes and decision‑making processes.
High level of policy analysis and development skills, with demonstrated ability to transition from policy to active delivery of change.
Experience managing complex funding programmes and driving change management.
Knowledge and appreciation of principles of European funding programme management.
Awareness of the current political environment and ability to work effectively with elected public representatives, facilitating policy implementation.
High professional and personal integrity, with a progressive public‑sector ethos.
Outstanding leadership qualities, with drive to deliver on the Assembly's ambitions and innovate for regional outcomes.
