Job Title:Operations ManagerEmployer:Limerick City and County CouncilCounty:LimerickClosing Date:3pm, Thursday, 3rd March 2026Starting Salary:€81,777About the Employer:Limerick City and County Council working with the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management of the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage have established the Fire Services National Mobilisation and Communications System which is tasked with implementing national policy as approved by the Minister of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.The National Mobilisation and Communications System has delivered the next generation fire service mobilisation and communications system. While the current three individual regional systems have operated successfully since the early 1990s, the technology has now moved forward sufficiently to enable the establishment and migration to one single national system, with communication nodes in the three former Regional Communications Centres.Limerick City & County Council operates this system on behalf of all local authorities to provide a platform for the emergency call answering mobilising and ancillary functions to support fire services. This national system greatly enhances resilience in the three nodes and facilitates the distribution of costs on a national basis as well as the development of standardised national technological systems and operational processes to serve the public who need to make 999/112 calls. The core elements of the project are:• The migration to a National Digital Radio System (Tetra) platform;• The development of a new Fire Service Command and Control software platform which all three regions will use for receipt and despatch of 999/112 calls; and• The standardisation of operational process in the three regions, i.e. staffing, training, quality management, control room procedures, etc.About the Role:The NMACS Operations Manager will work closely with staff and colleagues in the Department's National Directorate, as well as liaising with staff in local authority fire services and the services communications centres.While the primary location of the Operations Manager will be in offices provided by Limerick City and County Council, the Operations Manager will work also in Mayo and Dublin Regional Communication Centres and may work at other agreed locations.The NMACS Operations Manager will also be required to travel and to attend meetings in Ireland and abroad in line with stated duties. In particular, the role involves developing close links with Communications Centres and local authority staff, including participating in periodic visits to Communications Centres and to each local authority.a. Within Limerick: Daily contact and interaction with staff at all levels, including at or above the level of responsibility of the post, across technical and administrative streams, providing support and advice to the Head of NMACS as required.b.
