Required Experience:
10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or principal capacity
Expert‑level proficiency in Java (Java 11/17) and Spring Boot for microservice development
Proven experience in Oracle database design, optimisation, and integration within distributed systems
Robust track record modernising monolithic or SOAP‑based systems into RESTful microservices
Deep knowledge of microservice architecture, domain‑driven design (DDD), and event‑driven systems
Hands‑on experience with AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway) and Docker/Kubernetes
Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Lab CI, AWS Code Pipeline) and Ia C (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
Solid comprehension of authentication and authorisation frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, Open ID Connect)
Solid understanding of observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
Architecture & Technical Leadership
Define and implement the architectural roadmap for decomposing legacy systems into modular, domain‑driven microservices
Lead the modernization of SOAP‑based applications to RESTful, stateless microservices built with Spring Boot and integrated with Oracle databases
Establish and enforce engineering standards for scalability, security, observability, and cloud readiness
Partner with stakeholders across Product, Platform, and Dev Ops to ensure architectural alignment with business goals
API & Service Development
Design, build, and optimise RESTful APIs following best practices and Open API/Swagger standards
Lead transformation from SOAP/XML to REST/JSON for internal and external integrations
Ensure performance, fault tolerance, and high availability across service layers
Act as a subject matter expert for Java‑based microservices and Oracle data integration patterns
Architect and deploy containerised services using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS
Implement Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) with Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation for repeatable, secure provisioning
Collaborate with Dev Ops to improve CI/CD pipelines, observability and release automation
Drive adoption of cloud‑native best practices for endurance and cost efficiency
Quality, Performance & Security
Define and implement performance benchmarks, monitoring and tuning strategies
Promote TDD, CI/CD, and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Postman)
Implement caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and optimise database interactions
Ensure compliance with security standards and data protection policies
Provide hands‑on mentorship to senior and mid‑level engineers
Lead design and code reviews, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing
Champion modern engineering practices, agile methodologies, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with senior management to influence technical direction and long‑term technology strategy
Exposure to message brokers (Kafka, Rabbit MQ) or event‑driven architectures
Experience with serverless components (AWS Lambda) and data streaming pipelines
Robust collaboration and communication skills, capable of influencing technical direction across teams
