Maintenance Fitter/ Part Qualified Maintenance Fitter We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team and provide high-quality mechanical support across our production site.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your primary focus will be to ensure that all mechanical systems and equipment perform at their best, with minimal downtime.
This role plays a key part in driving site reliability through preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You'll be the first response for mechanical breakdowns and take ownership of maintaining a wide variety of mechanical systemsall while ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.

Key tasks As a Maintenance Fitter you will be responsible for: Completing plant and equipment fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance to enable the plant to operate safely and efficiently First response for all mechanical breakdowns on-site Complete process improvements, preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance Implement preventative maintenance routines and provide technical leadership and ownership for site mechanical systems.
Maintenance must be carried out on: Motors and gearboxes from fractional horsepower to up to 125kW.
Chain drives and chains transporting anything from a few boards to several tonnes of logs.
Hydraulic systems, including servo driven hydraulic systems Pneumatic systems Mobile plant including combi lift and fork trucks Boilers and drying kilns, including low pressure hot water systems Manufacture or adapt spare parts to include Arc and TIG welding Cutting and burning Ensuring equipment is well maintained to ensure maximum uptime by carrying out routine maintenance and inspections.
Ensuring any spares used are documented so replacements can be sourced Ensure compliance with external law, rules and regulations relevant to the plant and internal safety standards and procedures.
Develop and implement new standards, work practices and procedures to improve safety standards Supporting a wide range of equipment including for a Sawmill process Supporting with plant upgrade and continuous improvement projects.
Key requirements Relevant trade qualification in Mechanical fitting or similar part qualified applicants will be considered Good command of the English language is essential Proven experience in maintenance, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting Strong problem solving/ trouble shooting skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Flexible team player with the ability to work on own initiative Work schedule: Monday - Friday - Day shift Skills: Mechanical Maintenance Mechanical automation Mechanical fitting Troubleshooting problem solving skills.
