Assistant Buyer
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our team in Dublin.
This is an amazing opportunity to work with us in a fast-paced environment, purchasing key products to fulfil customer requirements. You will be responsible for working closely with suppliers, managing pricing within margin targets, and communicating changes to customers and sales.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Full category management of beverages and snack departments.
* Managing product codes, keeping all product data accurate and up-to-date.
* Setting and managing pricing within margin targets.
* Implementing price updates quickly and correctly and communicating changes to customers and sales.
* Resolving pricing queries from suppliers/customers in a timely and professional manner.
* Ensuring customer ordering portals reflect current product and pricing details.
* Building strong relationships with key suppliers and sourcing new partners when needed.
* Identifying category gaps/opportunities and staying informed on market trends to support negotiations.
* Managing supplier samples, including receiving, logging, and dispatch.
* Maintaining systems and currency/cost files and carrying out ad hoc testing as required.
* Reviewing margin reports to spot errors or erosion, and preparing ad hoc/monthly reports (samples, rebates).
* Supporting seasonal/promotional launches, sign off documentation/samples, and assisting on commercial projects.
* Negotiating pricing/terms and supporting wider team priorities as required.
Requirements include:
* Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a fast-paced environment; food service/FMCG buying or commercial experience desirable.
* Strong commercial and margin focus, with solid negotiation and supplier-management skills.
* Confident managing third-party relationships and multiple priorities.
* Excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving ability; proactive and able to work on own initiative.
* Advanced Excel essential; strong MS Office skills overall.
* ERP/system knowledge desirable; food industry knowledge a plus but not essential.
