Job Title: Senior MRI Radiographer

Location: Waterford

Job type: Permanent, Fulltime 35 hour week, plus call.

Working Hours: 7am-7pm plus call

Excel Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a highly reputable hospital in Waterford to recruit a Senior MRI Radiographer to join a dynamic, growing MRI team.

Under the leadership of an exceptional Radiology Manager dedicated to innovation, excellence, and a supportive work environment, this is an outstanding opportunity for professional growth.

The successful candidate will join a well-established Radiology Department, featuring the latest imaging technology and a team of highly skilled Radiographers.

This Radiology Department provides a service to both Inpatients and Outpatients. It includes General Radiography, Theatre Imaging, Ultrasound, Mammography, MRI, CT and DEXA services. The holder of this post will work as a member of the Radiology Department and multi- disciplinary teams, providing a high-quality MRI service to patients in accordance with professional standards of practice.

The Senior MRI Radiographer should have strong leadership qualities, as well as management skills and core professional competence, including autonomous practice, in the clinical setting. You will be able to manage in a rapidly changing environment and be willing to undertake such additional duties within the Radiology Department, as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Overview

As an Senior MRI Radiographer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality imaging services and ensuring optimal patient care. You will be competent to perform advanced MRI imaging procedures with precision and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To perform general and highly complex Radiographic procedures ensuring high professional standards of work are achieved and maintained while abiding by strict current legislation.
2. Deputise for the CSR during absenteeism.
3. To engage with consultants and develop individual specialised view protocols to meet their needs for patient management and surgical decision making. Continuous development and updating of Department handbook in line with agreed changes in practice.
4. To organise, plan and prioritise workload according to clinical need.
5. The senior diagnostic radiographer can implement change in practice based on the critical evaluation of evidence-based practice.
6. Supervise and mentor junior radiographers and students, providing guidance and support.
7. Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and accuracy and collaborate with radiologists for interpretation.
8. Maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
9. Develop and implement MRI protocols and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality.
10. Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.
11. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies.
12. Participate in continuous professional development and training programs to stay updated with advancements in MRI technology and practices.
13. Contribute to quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the MRI department.
14. Collaborate with other departments and professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Eligibility Criteria:

15. Must hold a Diploma/Degree of Radiography.
16. Must hold CORU registration
17. Possess a recognised postgraduate course as recognised by the IIRRT (desirable) or the relevant clinical experience in a specialised Modality.
18. Possession of MRSO (Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer) certification is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage
19. Good working knowledge of the RIS system.
20. Competent in using GE 1.5T scanner
21. Extensive experience in MRI imaging, with strong technical and clinical skills.
22. Proven leadership and team management abilities.
23. Have the ability to work independently on his/her own initiative and as a member of a team.
24. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
25. Ability to manage in a rapidly changing environment and a willingness to undertake such additional duties within the Diagnostic Imaging Department as may be assigned from time to time.
26. Strong awareness of Radiation Safety.
27. Knowledge of Health & Safety.
28. Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of current theory & practice in Diagnostic Radiography.
