Role Purpose

The EHS Advisor is responsible for providing expert Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidance across assigned projects. This role supports project teams by implementing and maintaining EHS systems, coordinating site-specific safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards. The position may involve working full-time on a single site or across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide EHS advice, support, and training to project teams, including subcontractors and site visitors.
* Lead by example to promote a proactive safety culture.
* Identify and address EHS training needs; deliver training where required.
* Conduct audits and inspections, prepare corrective action plans, and drive continuous improvement.
* Ensure timely and thorough incident reporting and investigations, with root cause analysis and preventive actions.
* Maintain and update site-specific EHS documentation including RAMS and Safety Plans.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, client requirements, and internal procedures.
* Manage EHS site setup, contractor evaluations, and ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.
* Track and report on EHS KPIs, risks, and trends to project and EHS leadership.
* Attend internal and external safety meetings; participate in coordination forums and reviews.
* Promote site safety initiatives and ensure availability of first aid and PPE resources.
* Issue EHS non-conformances, commendations, or disciplinary actions when appropriate.

Requirements

* Minimum 3 years’ EHS experience in a relevant industry (construction, M&E, CSA preferred).
* NFQ Level 8 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety; NFQ Level 6 in Environmental Management.
* Certifications: Safe Pass (or CSCS), First Aid, Train the Trainer.
* Internal auditor qualifications (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).
* Solid knowledge of Construction Regulations and CDM roles.
* Experience with EHS Management Systems, safety schemes, and compliance frameworks.
* Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and report writing).
* Competent in EHS documentation, audits, risk assessments, and compliance monitoring.
* Up-to-date knowledge of legislation, standards, and safety best practices.
* Skilled in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
* Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body.
