Misean Cara is looking for an experienced and senior fundraising professional to join our Fundraising Committee. You will have substantial experience as a senior charity fundraiser at strategic and operational levels. Our funding mix includes government funding, and trusts and foundations outside of Ireland.
Experience with international trusts, foundations and/or institutional funding is essential.
Experience with mid and major donor giving would be a bonus. You must have a strong commitment to international development.
Purpose of the Committee
The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to oversee and support Misean Cara's strategy to diversify and increase funding and advise on the sources and purposes of prospective donations and fundraising.
Key Activities of the Committee
On behalf of the board review and report performance of Misean Cara’s fundraising activities against targets and advise on strategy.
To work with the Donor Engagement Manager (DEM) and CEO to advise on future fundraising activities that Misean Cara might undertake.
To identify and assist the DEM to enhance their knowledge and expertise in relation to fundraising opportunities through either personal contacts, training, or possible leads, when possible and not in conflict with a member's own professional/personal interests.
To act as Misean Cara fundraising ambassadors and seize available opportunities to promote the organisation, when possible and not in conflict with a member's own professional/personal interests.
To share information and research available from both a donor and development agency point of view.
To advise on any international or national ethical codes of conduct that may apply to fundraising activities now and in the future.
To advise and inform the DEM of any developments in fundraising related policies best practices on occasion.
From time to time undertake a review of its own performance.
Expectation of all Committee Members
A Committee member must be someone who:
can commit the time to the role
shares Misean Cara’s values and passionately supports its mission and strategy
can work at a strategic level
can function effectively within a diverse group
Time commitments
Appointments are for three years with one option to renew.
At least three meetings annually (January, May and September)
Participation in email discussions between meetings.
