Finance Business Performance Analyst
About the Role:
The Business Performance Analyst will provide high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and insights to drive business performance across the organisation. This role is ideal for a newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) seeking to develop their career in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Context
The role sits in the Finance Business Partnering team and reports directly into the Director of Finance Business Partnering. The Finance Business Partnering team plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational decision-making of the business.
Principal Accountabilities
* Presentations and Reporting: Prepare high-quality presentations and reports for senior management, including commentary and recommendations.
* Competitor Analysis & External Perspective: Monitor and analyse competitor performance and market trends to provide external insights that inform business decisions and support strategic planning.
* Performance Analysis: Analyse variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods; identify risks, opportunities, and trends; and provide recommendations for improvement.
* Process Improvement: Contribute to the design and implementation of reporting processes and tools to enhance efficiency and insight.
* Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the annual budget cycle and reforecasts, including data gathering, modelling, and stakeholder engagement.
* Project Support: Assist with finance and non-finance projects, including business case development, scenario modelling, and ad hoc analysis.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive working relationships across Finance and the wider business, ensuring timely and accurate information sharing.
* Business Partnering: Work closely with business to understand drivers of performance, provide financial insights, and support decision-making.
Your qualifications and key criteria
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
* Newly Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (0–2 years post-qualification experience).
Essential competencies/skills:
* Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable working with financial systems and large data sets.
* Analytical Ability: Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse, and interpret financial and operational data.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
* Teamwork & Partnership: Strong interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively and build relationships across the business.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and focus; able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Commercial Awareness: Interest in understanding business drivers and contributing to performance improvement.
